“The Tree”

I knew a certain tree as I was growing up
Always easy to find when I was showing up
The tree stood tall during every single season
And I love that tree for way to many reasons
I would climb on the tree swing on it’s branches
It gave shade to keep cool and apples for lunches
Every single day the tree had something to offer
So I said give me give me as time passed longer
Soon I said tree give me all your wood
I’m gonna take it and use it good
So continues my life living away from the tree
Now a stump I lived off its blessings to me
And it took way to long to see its sacrifice
I was so blessed because the tree gave its life
Now I sit at the stump to reflect and rest
To become a blessing and give what I’ve been blest
